In the eyes of the law, he has committed an offence by using a false instrument and has deceived an Immigration official that the information that appear in pp to be him and to obtain approval to enter the UK. However, in the present circumstances, though Karuna has been arrested for an offence, he could make a Complaint Against Torture and feared for his life if sent back and request for protection from the UK. UK is a signatory to the Torture Convention & has to acceed to his request and can not send him to SL without conducting a detail Investigations into his complaint & to establish whether there is a threat or not. If there is a threat to his life, then UK Govt., must keep him there untill they are satisfied that the threat is no more. Also, Karuna should be released on Recognizance and instructed to appear when necessary. In the meantime, Karuna, can apply to the UNHCR seeking assylum & to be settled in another country. Now, for what happened & how he departed SL are all secondary. Let UK Govt., be saddled with the problem of Karuna what they need to do. Western countries, Catholic & Christian Churches, Their NGOs are parties who once upon a time maintained truck with Karuna as well. Just let these meddlers be saddled with the problem. If Karuna is in breach of serious HR violations so be it as Prabakaran too should be measured in the same vein. With the inquiries the UK Govt has to conduct on Karuna, Prabakaran & the LTTE too will be highlighted by him and will be prominent. Let us get about with what we have to do as there more to be done in SL to usher in peace & if UK Govt or the HR Gurus have to apply the law to Karuna on Human Rights, then they will have to use the same Yard Stick to try Karuna's former Guru Prabakaran.
