That was one of the mistakes LTTE made. At the same time I wonder what Nihal Pathirana and others who think that Sri Lanka is a DEMOCRACY feel about the hardship of the displaced Tamils living in temporary shelters in Jaffna due to the Government gobbling up their houses and farmlands in the name of creating High Security zones. Security foces are occupying/plundering their houses while the owners languish in temporary shelters for years!! What about the thousands of Tamils and Muslims driven from Sampur, Muthur and other areas in the pretext of "liberating" them and still not allowed to go to their houses and farms. Their ancestral homes and farms are being gobbled up in the name of "high security zones" or being settled by Sinhalese who were brought from elsewhere!! Its the international community who can put pressure on tamil organizations abroad who funds prbhakaran to create a Tamil state with no other ethnic groups.
