I fail to see what the big fuss is about. For the past two decades (at least) Rupavahini has proven itself to be nothing more than the pet parrot of the party in power. It has never for a moment shown a single iota of independence or journalistic courage in all those years. Is there any depth below this rock-bottom that Rupavahini can descend to now that a retired general has been appointed chairman?

Appointing a retired military personal to a high post in the SLRC is not the begining of the militarization of the Media.Militerazation commenced with burning of a printing press of a Sunday news paper located in a High Security Zone, secondly inviting armed forces to quel violence unleashed by government thug minister Dr.Mervyn Silva. Third incident was recent lockout of SLRC employees from reporting for duties while the entrance to the SLRC was manned by the military.
Fourth is parking of SLRC mobile trasmission vehicle under the round a clock guarding by the military inside the Temple Trees.
Accordingly the on going media militarization process has now reached to anew height by appointoing a military perosnnel to a high post in SLRC and more and more simlar apponitment will be made to screen the activities of the SLRC ,ITN. and Lake House employees in the very near fututure. That is in response to preserve the perishing democaracy and to promote Goebelism.

If this happens, this will be a benchmark indicating the the government treading towards Hitlerism and very soon A GOEBELS will be in charge of Sri Lanka Rupavahini. God Forbid this mesmerism, WE WILL SINK WITHOUT KNOWING HOW WE SUNK. This revelation should come to the public media and the civil society should be educated of the perils of militarization of the media.
